After expanding to Plymouth less than two years ago, Pretzels, Inc. has exceeded local expectations by announcing its second major expansion. Due to market demand and growing customer base, Pretzels Inc. will expand the Plymouth facility with a $9 million investment. The company plans to install a second oven and new packaging line, as well as create 35 new jobs with an average wage of $17.90 per hour.

The expansion is supported by a 7-year phase in, personal property tax abatement. The abatement was approved by the Plymouth City Council following a public hearing on March 11th. This hearing was the second step in the tax abatement process. The first step took place on February 26th when the Council pass a resolution designated the Pretzels facility as an economic revitalization area.

Craig Anderson, Pretzels, Inc. CFO states, “Pretzels, Inc. is pleased to announce the addition of a second production line at its Plymouth plant. We’re happy to be part of the Plymouth corporate community and excited about continuing to expand our operations here.”

Pretzels is a second-generation, family-owned business headquartered in Bluffton, Indiana. The company began in 1978 and manufactures many varieties of snacks for store brands, private labels, and its own Harvest Road products. The Plymouth plant is responsible for the production of peanut butter filled pretzel nuggets and bulk pretzel products. The company located to Plymouth in October 2016 with an $18 million expansion. They have since hired nearly 70 employees and recently began 24/7 operations.

The Plymouth Pretzels building was originally developed by the community to attract manufacturers looking for quick customization to meet specialized business needs. Pretzels’ sustained growth shows that this facility was a smart investment for both the company and community. Thanks to the success of this project in Plymouth, a similar building is being constructed in Argos to attract additional business to the area.
