MC Courthouse Art Entry_5Marshall County Courthouse Art Entries have arrived at Heartland Artists Gallery! This past weekend, five area artists delivered their Marshall County Courthouse art pieces in a variety of styles, were entered to compete to be permanently displayed at Indiana State Bar Association in Indianapolis.  Any artist had the opportunity to be of this competition.  The Indiana State Bar Association courthouse collection of artwork includes forty county courthouse pieces by professional and amateur artists.  The goal is to have all ninety-two counties courthouses represented.

Courthouse Painting 4The artwork will be juried by a panel of judges that include Honorable Curtis Palmer, Marshall Circuit Court and Honorable Dean Colvin, Marshall Superior Court No. 2.  First place will be announced on June 24, while awarded $1,000.00 and the winning Courthouse artwork will be on permanent display in Indianapolis.   Varied media was used to capture these original courthouse renderings including styles like oil, pastels, watercolor, and charcoal.

Courthouse Paintings 3Jayne Jacobson, president of Heartland Artists Gallery stated, “We were hoping for about 8 – 10 paintings, but when we saw the quality and professionalism in the 5 paintings that were submitted, we were blown away.  I do not envy the judges’ job of choosing just one for 1st place; anyone of them could be chosen without argument.”
