Earthworks’ Summer Staff are hard at work preparing ALL New curriculum for the summer. The new curriculum is based on the DNR’s “Project Wild” which provides a wide range of environmental activities for children with an emphasis on wildlife. Adam Thada, Ecological Relationships Director at The Center at Donaldson, will be installing trail cameras to monitor the wildlife on campus. Children, ages 6 to 10, participating in our programs will have the opportunity to view the pictures and learn about animals and their habitat. Summer Day Camp activities will also include hikes using binoculars to explore nature, experience cob building, dissecting owl pellets, examining the water of Lake Galbraith, interact with the goats at the Ancilla Beef and Grain Farm, and oodles of other outside activities.
All activities will be hands on learning experiences to help children focus on our interconnectedness with nature. Also, incorporated into the program are opportunities to enjoy music and art experiences as well as journaling each day’s activities.
