While the City of Plymouth has been participating in the county’s centralized dispatch services for nearly two years, on Monday evening the Common Council took official action by entering into an intergovernmental agreement with Marshall County.
The agreement calls for an annual payment of $127,987. The rate was determined by population and the number of calls.
Plymouth Police Chief Dave Bacon told the council that most dispatching services have been done by the county. Currently only the day shift, 4 days of week is handled by the police department. He said with the agreement in place, the county will handle all the city’s dispatching starting January 1, 2017.
Although council members approved the agreement, they did amend the agreement at the recommendation of Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver. Xaver said the (DLGF) Department of Local Government Finance suggested adding a clause limiting the annual increase. Specifically Xaver said the increase should not exceed the state’s growth quotient.
The amended intergovernmental agreement will be considered by the county commissioners at their meeting on Monday, December 19th.
