County News_logoDuring a special meeting on Tuesday, the Marshall County Council revisited its decision to make a couple of county employees eligible for overtime pay.

Federal regulations at the Department of Labor that were to take effect December 1 would have required the County to pay salaried employees making less than $47,476 overtime.

During their regular November meeting, the county council approved the change to non-overtime-exempt status for several county employees; EMA Director, County Highway Administrator and County Highway Superintendent.

But now that the new overtime rule has been blocked in federal court county council reversed their decision and will move those county employees back from the non-exempt status to exempt status.

The County Council also unanimously approved the 2017 Salary Ordinance.
