An early Thanksgiving morning traffic stop landed a Florida man in the Marshall County Jail.
About 12:45 an officer with the Marshall County Police Department initiated a traffic stop on US 30 near Redwood Road. During the course of the investigation it was determined that the driver, 65 year old George Eggert of Riverview, FL was intoxicated.
Eggert was later lodged into the Marshall County Jail for Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated Endangering a Person, Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated with a Blood Alcohol Content of .08% or higher, and Operating a Vehicle After being adjudged a lifetime traffic offender.
Listeners and readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
