03/25/11 Plymouth Speedway announced earlier the news that they are moving their weekly shows to Friday evenings, now they have more news for their fans.

Plymouth Speedway has a new owner.  Daytona Beach businessman Ed Kennedy and Thunder Motorsports purchase the race track from Tom Smith this week.  Kennedy has been involved with racing for over 40 years. He has been a NASCAR modified driver in the Northeast and runs ARCA stock cars. His most recent race was the ARCA race in Daytona this past February.

Ed has been in the entertainment business for many years, owning the Daytona Lagoon Water Park, The Board Walk, and the Speed Zone in Daytona Beach Florida, along with the Andretti indoor karting track in Atlanta, Georgia.

Bob Blount will remain on as a consultant to the speedway.

“I am very proud to be part of the history of Plymouth Speedway.” Kennedy said.   My good friend Irish Saunders from Hoosier Tire, who has been around racing up here all his life had me come up to look at the track a year ago. I was impressed with how clean Tom Smith and Bob Blount had the place.”  He continued, “I look forward to this being a fun family place to be, with regular season races on Friday nights and special events on Saturdays & Sundays.”

The tracks first event is April 9-10 with the Cabin Fever 200 CRA Sportsman, Street Stocks and Front Wheel drives. Practice will be Saturday April 9th from Noon to 5pm and races on Sunday April 10th starting at 1 pm. For more information go to www.plymouthspeedway.net
