Mayor'sYouthCouncil_EarthDay2016_1Last Saturday about 2 dozen people attended the Earth Day event that started in River Park Square in Plymouth.  Mayor Senter took the opportunity to proclaim Saturday, April 23rd a Arbor Day in Plymouth.

Mayor'sYouthCouncil_EarthDay2016_2Sponsored by the Mayor’s Youth Council, the kids invited the entire community to come out and spend an hour or two cleaning up around the city.  Members of the Mayor’s Youth Council were joined by students from the PHS Key Club and Student Council along with a group from Community Corrections.

Mayor'sYouthCouncil_EarthDay2016_3The Earth Day event focused on the various parks and downtown area.  Groups were disbursed to Packard Woods and Freedom Park, Price’s Memorial Park, Centennial Park, Magnetic Park and Founder’s Park along with the Greenway Trail and the South Gateway and downtown area.

Mayor'sYOuthCouncil_EarthDay2016_4Participants were fed a continental breakfast and then given work gloves and trash bags and directed to their work areas.

Mayor'sYouthCouncil_earthDay2016_5Along with cleaning up the groups planted two trees.  One tree was planted at the corner of LaPorte and Center Street while the second one was located on Baseball Lane in Centennial Park.
