“Walking in a Winter Wonderland” is what it feels like during Culver’s Winter Fest brought to you by Culver Chamber of Commerce. It takes place over the weekend of February 12-14. Grab your sweetie, since it’s Valentine’s Day weekend too, and or family and head to Culver and Lake Maxinkuckee. In its third year, Winter Fest combines all the fun of winter into one weekend.
Who doesn’t like to see a big chunk of ice turned into something spectacular? You can watch ice blocks being carved into masterpieces throughout the weekend and be sure to tour the town where they will be displayed.
Is sledding and ice skating more your thing? Kids (and kids at heart!) will fill the town park to fly down a huge sledding mound and can ice skate right on the lake! Skates and sleds will be available for those who don’t have their own.
Ever thought of learning to ice fish? Friday evening brings you a chance to find out more about this fun winter sport. Free of charge and open to all, the NAIFC (North American Ice Fishing Circuit) Pro Staff will lead a seminar covering the basics of ice fishing. A kids’ clinic is also scheduled during which the NAIFC Pro Staff will demonstrate indoors in a classroom setting where topics include ice safety, bait, equipment and jigging. The kids and parents will then be invited to fish Lake Max with NAIFC Pro Staff.
Have you ever seen a Polar Plunge? Join us Saturday in front of the beach lodge to watch these brave men and women dive into the ice cold water of Lake Maxinkuckee for charity.
Winter Fest concludes Sunday with the North American Ice Fishing Tournament sponsored by Marshall County Tourism and begins at 8 am. Come watch the teams weigh in their “Catch of the Day” beginning at 1 pm.
