Early Wednesday morning January 6th, just before 3 a.m., the Marshall County Central Dispatch Center received a 911 call in reference to an overturned semi-tractor and trailer.
The single vehicle incident occurred in the south bound lanes of U.S. 31 near the intersection with Veterans Parkway.
Thirty-four year old Zachrey J. Hart of Kansas admitted to falling asleep while driving the semi-tractor and trailer south bound on U.S. 31. Based on evidence at the scene, the semi-tractor and trailer left the south bound lanes of U.S. 31 and traveled into the grass center median. The semi-tractor and trailer then traveled back up onto the south bound lanes of U.S. 31 and overturned onto its driver’s side.
The south bound lanes of U.S. 31 were closed for several hours during the roadway clean up. Traffic was diverted around the scene of the collision.
The driver only sustained minor injuries during the collision. No other vehicles were involved.
