City NEwsMonday evening the Requests for Proposals for the LARE Grant Yellow River Bank Stabilization project along the Greenway Trail in Centennial Park were opened at the Board of Public Works and Safety meeting.

Two companies; Cardno from Walkerton and Flatland Resources from Muncie offered proposals to complete the river bank project for the Park Board.     There are two areas that need to be addressed and with engineering, design and construction the proposals came in at $73,500 for Cardno and $51,638 for Flatland Resources.

When opening the RFP’s City Attorney Sean Surrisi noted irregularities in both submissions. The proposals will be reviewed, evaluated and rated before one is selected for the project.

The LARE Grant is for $50,000 with the city adding another $12,000 to the project.

The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety also opened quotes for the City’s Pavement Crack Seal Project.  Although three companies were invited to quote the project only one, Pavement Solutions Inc. from Middletown, IN offered a quote.

Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt said there are several city streets he would like to use the hot fiberized crack sealing material on, like they have done in the past.  Seeking a per pound price, Pavement Solutions offered $1.30 per pound.  The project is not to exceed $100,000.

Crack sealing is a weather dependent project and because the weather is starting to change Marquardt asked to have the Board of Works approved pending a review of the quote.  The approved his request.
