TennisCourt_OptionBDuring Monday’s Plymouth Park Board meeting Mike Reese from The Troyer Group updated members on the proposal to build new courts in the same location with an expansion and an addition to the Fryman Shelter.  The feasibility study presented for the project was presented to all board members.

One option given to the park board and tennis committee is the choice of asphalt courts or post tensioned concrete courts.   Preliminary cost estimates show the cost between the two very comparable.

The asphalt project would require approximately $265,000 for demolition, excavation of poor soils and fill and aggregate.  The new asphalt courts would run about $344,000 with fencing, lighting, parking lots, road relocation and drainage and grading costing an estimated $314,000. The addition and renovation to the Fryman Shelter would cost approximately $200,000 with the entry plaza and signage, site amenities and landscaping running about $65,000.  Total estimate for the asphalt court project with everything is $1,531,923.

The post tensioned concrete courts are more costly at $602,000 but demolition is only estimated to be $10,000 because the concrete can be placed over the current structure.  Estimated costs for fencing, lighting, parking lots, road relocation and other items including the renovation and addition to the Fryman Shelter are the same.  The bottom line estimate for the post tensioned concrete courts is $1,535,649.

The Park Board took the information for review with a determination to come at a later time.
