Everything from Elvis to Elsa is coming to the big screen at The REES in June.

The Date Night movie on Friday, June 14th is the 2023 adaptation of the Broadway musical “The Color Purple” based on Alice Walker’s 1982 novel. It follows Celie, a Black woman dealing with the hardships of living with an abusive husband in the South during the early 1900s. But she finds extraordinary strength in the unbreakable bond of a new kind of sisterhood. Tickets are $5 each and the movie starts at 7:30 p.m.

The Family Matinee at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jun 16 is “Trolls Band Together.”  The third installment in the jukebox musical comedy series by DreamWorks Animation. Featuring the voices of Justin Timberlake, Anna Kendrick, and Zoey Deschanel. It features the return of NSYNC, performing the original song “Better Place,” marking the group’s first song in 22 years. Tickets are $5 for adults, and children 12 and younger are free with an accompanying adult.

This month’s Seasoned Citizens Matinee at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19 stars Elvis in “Blue Hawaii.” After being discharged from the Army, Chadwick Gates (Presley) returns to his home in Hawaii, wanting nothing more than to hang loose and surf all day. The movie includes the classic songs “Blue Hawaii” and “Can’t Help Falling in Love.” Tickets are $5 each with seniors receiving free popcorn and pop.

The Family Matinee at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 23rd features the Disney animation classic “Frozen,” based on Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale “The Snow Queen.” The story follows Anna (Kristen Bell) as she searches for her sister Elsa, now known as the Snow Queen. The movie includes Menzel’s memorable “Let It Go.” Tickets are $5 for adults, and children 12 and younger are free with an accompanying adult.
