On Saturday, May 25th, Corporal Baker with the Plymouth Police Department was conducting routine patrol when a red sedan failed to stop at a stop sign on North Plum and North Streets. A traffic stop was conducted and during the investigation it was discovered that the driver of the vehicle did not have a valid driver’s license and had never obtained one.

19-year-old Juan Betanco-Vargas of Plum Street in Plymouth was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail where he was booked for operator never licensed and issued a $105 cash bond.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
