Suzanne Kopetski, 75, passed away after a sudden decline in health surrounded by her loving family on May 18, 2024. She was the daughter of Peter and Evelyn (Mnichowski) Richard, born on July 12, 1948 in South Bend.

Sue married the love of her life, Stephen Kopetski, on October 30, 1971 at St. Michael Catholic Church in Plymouth. They remained faithful members of the church, and Sue served in the Altar Rosary Society for several years.

Sue was a graduate of Plymouth High School.  Sue worked as a caseworker with the State of Indiana in their Welfare Division.  However, her favorite role was that of a mother and grandmother.  After being diagnosed with cancer and Multiple Sclerosis, Sue’s one wish was to get to see her children grow up, and she often praised God for this blessing.  Sue loved to provide a quick wit to conversations offering a quip to bring laughter to any conversation.  She had a habit of saying that it was better to laugh than to cry.  Sue was always caring for others whether it was baking a pie, mending jeans that only seemed to get holes in the left knee, or talking on the phone for hours just to comfort someone else.  She loved to tell stories, teach nursery rhymes, and sing.  She enjoyed word search puzzles, collecting Raggedy Ann dolls, cooking, and going to church.

She left an impression on everyone she met, and she will be affectionately remembered for her silly humor, warmth, love, sacrifice and kindness.  Sue always put others before herself.  She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who was guided by her unwavering faith.

Sue is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Stephen; children, Stephanie (Clyde) Longanecker, Peter (Leah) Kopetski, and Paul (Lynndi) Kopetski; grandchildren, Kaylee (Michael), Traci (John), Kasey (Torrie), Keith, Korey, Kameron, Madelyn, Benjamin, Evelyn, Lauren, Ellynor, Lainey, Willson, Lilly Anne, Whitley, and Drew; great-grandchildren, Harrison and Karissa Sue; along with siblings, Francis (Monica) Richard and Mary Evelyn Gifford.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Evelyn; brother-in-law, Kenneth Gifford; and granddaughter, Jeanna Longanecker.
