Plymouth Board of Public Works & Safety approves requests

Members of the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety considered two requests during their meeting this week.

Sean Hatfield from Cars & Coffee asked to close off one block of Beerenbrook Street, north and south of Jefferson Street on the first Saturday of each month for their event.  The street closure will be from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. for the monthly gathering.

Hatfield said they generally have about 200 vehicles but have had as many as 300. 

They will have a County Reserve Officer on site to control any traffic issues and help pedestrians cross Jefferson Street to see the cars parked on Beerenbrook Street.

This is the 7^th year for Cars & Coffee at the old Mobil Gas Station.

The Board of Public Works and Safety approved the request 5-0.

The second request was presented by Jo Fisher for the Benjamine Fisher Memorial Foundation.  They will be at the intersection of Michigan and Jefferson Streets this Friday, April 12^th from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday, April 13^th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. collecting donations and handing out key chains.  They want to bring a bigger awareness to Work Zone Awareness week which starts on April 15^th. 

Fisher was donated a lighted digital sign from Traffic Control Specialists in Knox, the company Ben Fisher was working for when he was struck and killed in a work zone in Syracuse in 2019. She asked permission to place the portable lighted, digital sign at the northeast corner of Michigan and Jefferson Streets this Friday and Saturday for their event.

Members of the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety approved the request.
