Russell Lee Spaid, 88, passed away peacefully at home on April 9, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lakeville on June 3, 1935, to Alva and Ruth (Miller) Spaid.

After meeting on a blind date, Russell married his sweetheart, Eva Pugh, on May 1, 1954, at Shiloh Wesleyan Church in Plymouth. Together, they raised 5 children and 2 grandchildren. Russell loved his family.  He especially loved the chaos of Christmas when all 18 grandkids were there.  He also loved the family reunions with his siblings. Russell and Eva will celebrate 70years of marriage together in heaven. 

Russell started working at Price’s Nursery at the age of 15.  He would continue working there for many years.  After various other jobs he started his own landscaping business.  His work is all over Northern Indiana.

Russell will be dearly missed by his children; Kerry Spaid of Bremen, Peggy (Mike) Breasseale of Horton, AL, Perry Spaid of Plymouth, Brenda (Tim) Baranski of Granger, and Kimberly (Steve) Giese of Walkerton; 18 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings; Donna (Joe) Pone of Tennessee, Nona Kuhn of Florida, Louis (Kris) Spaid of Wyoming, Connie (Joe) Castro of Plymouth, and David (Chris) Spaid of Tennessee.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Eva Spaid; grandson, Jakeb Spaid; brother, Richard Spaid, and brother, Earl Spaid.

Per the wishes of the family there will be no service.
