On Thursday, March 14, at 7:51p.m., we said our final goodbyes to loving husband, father, and friend to so very many, Richard “Rick” Alan Vancza. Rick passed peacefully as a result of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, surrounded by many loved ones in his home. He is survived by his wife Kari; siblings: Deborah, Anna, Stephen and Greg, children (spouses): Joshua, Eric (Michelle), Chad (Savannah), Karissa, Aaron (Tifani-Rain), Alexander, Viktoria and Devin. In addition to his children, he leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and a group of grandchildren who all lovingly referred to him as Papa.

Those who knew Rick knew that he never sat still. He was a creature of habit, always up at the crack of dawn with a cup of coffee, black, just the way he liked it. Over the years, when he wasn’t working, he gave his time to a variety of people and places. He was heavily involved in his families’ various activities. He officiated for the Plymouth Aquatics Club, was a coach in numerous sports over the years, and volunteered countless hours with kari at the Marshall County Blueberry Festival in multiple roles, including the parade, until he eventually became a board member himself, where he was voted into presidency this year.

He never knew a stranger and was always willing to help someone in need. He loved his children and his grandchildren dearly and will truly be missed by so very many. His personality and impact cannot be fit into a few mere paragraphs, but through the memories he left behind told in stories by those who loved him, his legacy will live on for years to come.

Per Rick’s wishes there will not be any traditional funeral services and a celebration of life will take place at a later date.
