Deputy Matt Geiger with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop at 5:45 a.m. Monday, February 26th on U.S. 31 for a vehicle speeding.

The deputy stopped a red Chevy truck that was driving at 94 mph in a 60 mph zone. It was found the driver, 27-year-old Dionicio M. Porfirio of Indianapolis had never obtained a driver’s license.

Mr. Porfirio was arrested for operator never licensed and the truck was impounded by Lyons Towing. He was booked into the Marshall County Jail and held on a $100 cash bond.  Within 90 minutes he was released on bond. 

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
