34-year-old Douglas Scott Howard of West Madison Street in Plymouth and 36-year-old Derick Sallee of Miner Street in Plymouth were arrested by Deputy Ryan Hollopeter with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday, February 21st just before 1 p.m.

Marshall County Police were advised of a vehicle entering Marshall County on Michigan Road where the driver didn’t have a valid driver’s license.

Officer Hollopeter conducted a traffic stop on Michigan Road just north of 1st Road.

The driver, Douglas Scott Howard was detained for driving while suspended. During the investigation, the officer discovered the presence of Fentanyl and other controlled substances.

The front-seat passenger, Derek Jonathan Wayne Sallee was also detained during this investigation.

Both Howard and Sallee were transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked in for possession of narcotics as a level 6 felony.  Howard was also booked in for driving while suspended with a prior conviction as an A misdemeanor.  Each has a cash bond of $1,500.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Marshall County Drug Task Force, Saint Joseph County Police Department, and the LaPaz Police Department.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
