A Plymouth man is sitting in the Marshall County Jail after a traffic stop last Thursday (2/15) at the corner of Harrison and Walnut Streets. 

At approximately 8:45 pm, Officer Schieber with the Plymouth Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation. During the officer’s investigation, the driver was identified as Douglas Howard, 34, of West Madison Street in Plymouth. 

Howard was found to have a suspended prior driver’s license and was suspected of being impaired.  The officer located suspected drug paraphernalia on Doug Howard.  Howard was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail where he was lodged for Possession of Legend Drug, Possession of Paraphernalia, Driving While Suspended-Prior, and Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated-Controlled Substance. 

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
