In November 2023, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department obtained a complaint that funds were stolen from the debit card account of a county resident.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department initiated an investigation and during it discovered that the suspects were also involved in breaking into abandoned buildings and homes and stealing copper and scrap.

A case report detailing those events was forwarded to the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office where formal charges were filed.

On February 08, Mackenzie Vanlue, 24, of Dunn Street in was Rochester located and arrested.  Vanlue is charged with theft as a level 6 felony.  She is being held on a $3,000 cash bond.   

On Saturday, February 10, Kristofer Conley, 23, of Ohio Street in Culver was located and arrested. Conley is being held for two counts of burglary as level 5 felonies, and two counts of theft as level 5 felonies.  His cash bond was set at $25,000 cash. 

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
