Next Monday, February 5th will be the first Monday of the month, and for residents who live in the City of Plymouth, this is a reminder of the once-a-month large item pick-up.

On the first Monday of each month, Republic Services picks up one large item at no additional cost to you.  All you need to do is put that item at the curb by 6 a.m. Monday morning.

Items that Republic Services picks up include grills without the LP tank, furniture such as a couch, love seat, or a recliner, vanities, toilets that are taken apart, tables, chairs, entertainment centers that are broken down, outdoor play sets that are broken down, push mowers, tillers or snow blowers that the gas and oil has been removed and the item is placed at the curb upside down.  Republic will take a box springs and mattress set as one item, but it must be wrapped in plastic.  They also take cans of dried paint, with the lids off and kitty litter mixed in the paint.  All items must be shorter than 4 feet in length.

Items Republic Services won’t pick up include, concrete, vehicle parts including tires and batteries, cast iron bathtubs, hazardous materials or chemicals, ammunition, rocks and soil, landscape timbers or treated wood, railroad ties, riding lawnmowers, garage doors, appliances, or electronics. If you have more than one large item for pick up, you need to call Republic Services (574-842-4719) and make special arrangements.

If you aren’t sure how to get rid of some items, you might call the Recycle Depot in Plymouth to see if they will accept your items. 574-953-8618.
