CULVER – Rudolph E. Tinglof, 95, passed away peacefully at home on December 19, 2023 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born to Oscar and Lillie (Carlson) Tinglof on June 18, 1928 in Chicago, IL.

Rudy proudly served his country in the US Navy and was honorably discharged in 1953. He had a lifetime career as a steel worker with the Inland Steel Company. United in marriage on May 11, 1985 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Merrillville, Rudy celebrated 38 years of marriage with his wife, Sharon. He was an avid member of a Barber Shop Quartet for 7 years and that is how he and Sharon met. Rudy was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Rudy was known for his caring heart and his love of life. He was a religious man; most recently attending Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plymouth. In his retirement, he and Sharon wintered in Florida. They often talked about their travels and all of the wonderful memories they made throughout the years. Rudy enjoyed reading and was known as a history buff; always learning more about wars and military history. He also had a knack for woodworking and enjoyed crafting with Sharon.

Rudy is survived by his wife, Sharon; children, Debbie (Steve) Elser, Jef (Alba) Irons, Tina (Don) Munson, and Jim Tinglof; grandchildren, Mandy, Ashley, Giotto, Anna, and Joshua; and great-grandchildren, Seth and Conner.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar & Lilly Tinglof; brothers, Roy & Evert Tinglof; and daughter, Carolyn Tinglof.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at 11:30AM EST at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 6835 Union Rd, Plymouth, IN 46563 with Pastor Dennis Wenzel officiating.
