The Marshall County Commissioners and County Council members approved the 2024 Sheriff’s Salary contract during their recent meetings.
The new contract which took effect January 1st with Sheriff Matt Hassel provides for a fixed annual salary and does not include compensation for tax warrant collections or prisoner meal costs.
The new contract calls for an annual salary of $99,744.84 for 2024. The contract requires the sheriff to maintain all records and reports as prescribed by the county and the Indiana State Board of Accounts. The sheriff is eligible for benefits including medical, retirement, and disability as previously established by the county for the sheriff and all benefits shall be in addition to and not considered a part of the fixed amount of compensation.
