Betty I. Geist, 94, of Plymouth, IN passed away on Thursday, January 18, 2024 in Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home of Plymouth, IN.

Betty was born on August 27, 1929 to Alfred and Alta (Hovis) Jensen in Donaldson, IN. She married Robert Geist, Sr. on September 10, 1949 and he preceded her in death on January 10, 2004. She was a member of the Blessed Hope Church of Plymouth, IN. She retired from Plymouth High School after 27 years of service while in her 70s. She was a loving wife, mother and friend. For many years she was an office manager at Garden Court Apartments. She served her community in many ways. She was on the board of directors for the Hospital Auxiliary for several years. Also, during 6 of her summers, she cooked meals for the kids of Kiwanis Camp for Crippled Children. Her hobby was the love of baking delicious food, especially desserts, and sharing them with her family and friends.

Betty is survived by her son, Robert Geist, Jr. of Plymouth, IN; her daughter, Anita (David) Kordecki of Austin, TX; her granddaughter, Mamie (Jason) Geist Ameling of Plymouth, IN; her 4 great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Sandy Geist of Plymouth, IN; her 3 step grandchildren: Hal Browning of Plymouth, IN; Jason (Kristen) Kordecki of St. Helens, OR; Laura (Aldo) Kordecki Cabrerizo of Westlake, Fl; and 2 step great-grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Alta and Alfred Jensen; her brother, Emery Jensen; and her husband, Robert Geist, Sr.

A celebration of life visitation will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  at Deaton-Clemens Van Gilder Funeral Home (300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, IN 46563).

A celebration of life service will follow at 3:00 p.m.
