The Marshall County Emergency Management Agency has upgraded Marshall County to a “Travel Watch” effective immediately.

A level two Travel Watch means that conditions are threatening to the safety of the public. Only essential travel, such as to and from work or in emergency situations, is recommended. Emergency action plans should be implemented by businesses, schools, government agencies, and other organizations.

Freezing rain will continue to accumulate on surfaces such as roads, trees, and vehicles. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory in response. Total ice amounts of 0.15” – 0.25” are likely.

Roads will be incredibly slick, particularly on untreated surfaces. Heavy limbs may crack and cause damage to power lines, leading to outages. Please drive and walk carefully during this freezing rain event.

Stay tuned to local media and the Marshall County EMA for future updates – including an eventual return to normal travel status.
