Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hassel announced the recent awarding of a Life Saving Award.

Deputy Andrew Wozniak and Turnkey/Dispatcher Sergio Fonseca were awarded with the Life Saving Award during the Sheriff’s Employee Christmas and Awards Luncheon on December 21st.

The award is from an incident that happened on July 23rd 2023.  At around 5:00 a.m. a man walked into the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department lobby and began conversing with the on duty Main Control Officer. During the conversation the man began having a major medical emergency. Dispatch quickly realized that the man needed help and dispatched officers, jail staff and the Plymouth Fire to respond.

Officer Fonseca and Officer Wozniak were first on the scene and immediately started life saving aid by providing Narcan to the man. Shortly after Plymouth Medics arrived at the scene and transported the patient to the hospital.

Sheriff Hassel presented the Life Saving Commendation to both officers and their names were added to the Life Saving plaque located in the lobby of the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.
