Richard A. Knepper, age 85, of South Bend, IN, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024 in his home.

Richard was born to Howard and Margaret (Metheny) Knepper on January 25, 1938 in Plymouth, IN. He graduated from Plymouth High School. He married Shurla Cudney on December 4, 1971 and she preceded him in death in 2010. He worked as a heavy equipment mechanic for Don Koontz Equipment in Plymouth, IN. He was a member of the Inwood United Methodist Church and a member of the American Legion and the Moose. He enjoyed sports, was a Notre Dame fan, bowling, golfing, shuffleboard, and spending time with his family.

Richard is survived by his daughter, Rhonda (Angee) Knepper of South Bend, IN; his sons: Jerry Knepper of South Bend, IN; Rick (Amy) Knepper, Jr. of Plymouth, IN; his sisters: Judy Dildine of Austin, TX; Linda (Ed) Krecik of Knox, IN; Sally O’Dell of Wooster, OH; his brother, Ronald Knepper of La Paz, IN; his grandchildren: Cliff Knepper of Plymouth, IN; Brandon Knepper of Plymouth, IN; Mikayla Knepper of Plymouth, IN; his great-grandchildren: Allison Knepper; Savannah Knepper; Sharlotte Knepper; and Carter Knepper.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Shurla Knepper; his son, Jeff Knepper; his sister, Mary Jane Knepper; and his brother, James Knepper.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Inwood United Methodist Church (11211 Hawthorn Road, Plymouth, IN 46563) with Pastor Becky Baker officiating.
