James (Jim) F. Xaver, 76, of Plymouth, IN, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 in his home, surrounded by his loving family.

James was born to John and Hattie (Morrow) Xaver on May 16, 1947.  He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1965.  On June 16, 1972, he married Sharon Klinedinst.

After high school, James served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Maddox.  He then returned home and became a Plymouth Police Officer for eight years.  For the past 47 years, James and his wife have owned and operated Xaver Cleaners.

James enjoyed time with his family and friends.  He was always up for a marathon game of euchre and loved having cookouts by the pool.  He had many hobbies throughout his life including training his beagles to hunt, participating in golf and bowling leagues, and tinkering around with his motorcycles and vintage cars.  He also never missed any of his grandchildren’s sporting events.  For the past several years, he spent many of his weekends relaxing at his camper in Pierceton. 

James is survived by his wife, Sharon Xaver of Plymouth, IN; his daughter, Jena Dreibelbis of Plymouth, IN; his grandchildren:  Kendall and James Dreibelbis; his sister, Marilyn Leeney of Aurora, CO; and his brother, Michael (Lori) Xaver of Mt. Vernon, WA.

James was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters:  Joan Johnston; Phyllis Nash; his brother, John Xaver; and his in-laws, Norman and Eileen Klinedinst.

A visitation will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Deaton-Clemens Van Gilder Funeral Home (300 W. Madison St., Plymouth, IN  46563) with Military Honors at 4:30 p.m.  A funeral service will follow at 5:00 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the Marshall County Humane Society (P.O. Box 22, Plymouth, IN. 46563).
