A call for assistance with an unwanted guest on New Year’s Eve morning sent a Plymouth man to the Marshall County Jail. 

On December 31st, at approximately 2 o’clock, Plymouth Police responded to 2550 North Michigan Street Room 211, the Red Rock Inn for the report of an unwanted guest.

Arriving on the scene police made contact with 49-year-old Chad W. Smith who has an address on Sheryl Court in Plymouth.  Smith had a warrant out for his arrest and Police found methamphetamine along with paraphernalia on his person.

Chad Smith was taken into custody for his warrant as well as possession of methamphetamine, possession of paraphernalia, and possession of a hypodermic needle.  He was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked in on a $1,500 cash bond. 

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
