Dean Byers, lifelong Republican, public servant, and former Marshall County Coroner has announced his candidacy for County Coroner in the 2024 Primary Election.

Byers has served as the Executive Director of Habitat of Marshall County since 2003. During his 10 years at Habitat, Byers saw the opening of the Habitat Restore and the construction of 26 homes throughout Marshall County.

Byers served as the Administrator of Pilgrim Manor for 28 years, has served on numerous not-for-profit boards, and is a former Licensed Funeral Director.

Dean Byers served as Marshall County Coroner and Chief Deputy Coroner from 1975 to 1994.

While Coroner, Byers built a professional, caring, and respectful organization. A Coroner’s Office philosophy that continues today under Coroner John Grolich.

“While changes in death investigations have emerged over the years, one thing remains, compassion for the deceased and the living remains are paramount,” said Byers.

Current Marshall County Coroner John Grolich said of Dean, “I had the privilege of serving under Dean as Deputy Coroner and learned the importance of what a Coroner is and does. It is my privilege to endorse Dean Byers as your next County Coroner.”
