The Mill Pon Dam was part of the discussion during a recent Marshall County Commissioner’s meeting.

Highway Superintendent Jason Peters told the commissioners that tree-topping work can be completed without any permits. The boring samples will be collected and sent in for review.

The county will be required to obtain permits for the reconstruction process which will include lining the old pipe under Rose Road with a new pipe sleeve.  The permit is required because work will be in the water and the impact to the downstream toe which is underwater.

The Highway Superintendent said his department will begin working on the trees now to get them out of the way.

Peters expects this project to be a local project.

Commissioner Kevin Overmyer said the cost estimated for the lining of the pipe is between $25,000 and $30,000.

Peters told the commissioners he doesn’t expect the permitting fees to be too excessive.
