On Friday, November 24th, at approximately 1:30 in the morning Officer Wozniak with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department initiated a traffic stop on a white 2016 Volkswagen Jetta in the area of U.S. 31 and 11th Road.

During the investigation, the driver, Sammie Coleman, 40, of Indianapolis, was found to be operating with a driving status of suspended prior and was in possession of marijuana. He was transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked in for Driving While Suspended with a prior and Possession of Marijuana.  His cash bond was set at $500.

Sammie Coleman was released at 2 a.m. Sunday, November 26th with NO JUDICIAL REVIEW.   

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
