On Saturday night, November 11th at 10:42 officers with the Plymouth Police Department and the Plymouth Fire Department were notified of a traffic accident and the vehicle was reported to be in the river.   

This single-vehicle accident happened in the city parking lot at the corner of Michigan and Laporte Streets.  The vehicle drove to the south east corner of the parking lot and behind Ella & Ava’s Boutique and ended up driving into the Yellow River. 

When city officers arrived in the area they found a Ford F250 in the river with a male inside the vehicle. Officers were able to get the male out of the vehicle and to safety.

During the investigation, it was determined that the driver, Tyson Leed, 22, of 2C Road in Plymouth was intoxicated. Tyson was taken into custody after receiving medical attention and transported to the Marshall County Jail.  He was booked for Operating While intoxicated, and Operating While Intoxicated Endangering.  He was held on a $1,500 cash bond.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is a mere allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
