Special Olympics Indiana is proud to support “The Best We’ve Got: The Carl Erskine Story,” the newest documentary project by Ted Green Films. The Best We’ve Got” is an uplifting new film about an Indiana icon. It debuted in August 2022 in Erskine’s hometown of Anderson.  Although Carl Erskine is best known as a baseball player, “The Best We’ve Got” is much more than a sports movie. Carl, who is now 96 years old, has been a lifelong champion of acceptance, inclusion and servant leadership. Everyone can connect with those inspiring messages.

Special Olympics Indiana is working with its county programs and community organizations to host local screenings of the film throughout the state in 2023.  Special Olympics Indiana Marshall Starke is proud to announce that they are hosting an event at the Rees Theatre in Plymouth on Sunday, June 4th at 2 pm!  Tickets are limited and are $5 each. (presale only) Special Olympics Indiana CEO Jeff Mohler will be a guest speaker prior to the film, and some of the local athletes will be in attendance.  You won’t want to miss this amazing opportunity!

Special Olympics Indiana has partnered with filmmaker Ted Green in developing the Erskine Personal Impact Curriculum (EPIC), presented by Duke Energy — a set of educational materials for elementary, middle, and high school students released in August 2022. These unique classroom materials build upon the success of our Unified Champion Schools® and Champions Together initiatives to promote learning for every age level and give educators an impactful way to teach themes inspired by Carl’s life stories of inclusion, belonging, and leadership.  EPIC materials are available to Indiana educators at no cost through generous donations by our partners.

Seating is available for 200 and these tickets will go quickly.  Please let us know if you would like to purchase tickets by calling 574-935-0513 or emailing marshallstarkeso@gmail.com.  If you have a student in Special Olympics, they will be selling tickets as well.
