Continuing our mission of concern for the community, Operation Round Up® awards local non-profits with grants to support the work they do in Marshall County. The REMC Operation Round Up board awarded six grants, totaling $9,000!
Organizations included: Child Evangelism Fellowship of Indiana, Inc., Held in Hope, The Marshall County Historical Society, Plymouth Travel Soccer Club, Inc., Serenity House, Inc., and Triton Jr/Sr. High School Robotics Team.
Child Evangelism Fellowship of Indiana, Inc. North Central Indiana Chapter received funding to help purchase two new computers needed for communicating with volunteers and partners, presentations, etc. The Child Evangelism Fellowship of Indiana’s purpose is to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the children in the community through after-school clubs.
Held in Hope received funding to help distribute kits to women in Marshall County who are experiencing pregnancy loss. Held in Hope creates and distributes “miscarriage boxes” to provide support to women through their pregnancy loss. They also provide educational material that helps women better understand the process they will experience as they miscarry.
The Marshall County Historical Society received funding to assist with improvements needed for their exhibits. The Marshall County Historical Society promotes programs that develop a better appreciation and awareness of our county and state. The MCHS collects artifacts and documents to illustrate the county’s history in terms of natural resources, Indiana heritage, exploration, economic and industrial development, and cultural achievement.
Plymouth Travel Soccer Club, Inc. received money to help with costs and fees so the players can participate in local tournaments. The Plymouth Travel Soccer Club is a non-profit organization for the benefit of local youth in Marshall County to engage in competitive soccer at the club level for a cost affordable to local families.
Serenity House, Inc. received funding to assist with the initial cost of new residents, who may not be able to afford it. Serenity House provides a safe, clean, and structured environment for men and women alike to become free from the addiction of drugs and or alcohol and become a productive members of society.
Triton Jr/Sr High School Robotics Team received funding to purchase several items needed to start the program. The Robotics Team teaches students how to design and build robots that will have complete autonomous tasks as well as drive and operate the robots. The students will also be able to participate in competitions at other schools.
The next round of grants will be awarded in July. Charitable organizations within the Marshall County REMC Service territory are eligible to apply. Organizations don’t have to be a member of Marshall County REMC. Applications are available at www.marshallremc.com.
