Breaking Away is coming to The REES Theatre in downtown Plymouth this Sunday, April 23, at 2:00 p.m.  Community Sponsors are local attorneys June Bules and Tom Black.

Released in 1979, Breaking Away is an American coming-of-age dramedy filmed in and around Bloomington and the IU campus.  It follows four recent high school grads searching for

their life’s goals.

Dave is obsessed with competitive bicycle racing, and Italian racers in particular.  When a professional Italian cycling team comes to town for a race, he is thrilled to be competing with them. However, the Italians become irked when Dave is able to keep up with them. One of them jams a tire pump in Dave’s wheel, causing him to crash, which leaves him disillusioned.

That, coupled with a brawl involving some college students and a personal invitation from the university president to form a cycling team to participate in the Little 500 convinces Dave and his buddies to give it a go.

This movie is rated PG.  Adults are $5.00, and children 12 and under are free and must be accompanied by a paid adult.

Tickets are available at Fernbaugh’s Diamonds in Plymouth, or online at  www.reestheatre.com.  The box office opens at 1:30.
