Officer Templeman with the Marshall County Police Department was dispatched to a residence in the 13,000 block of 5D Road on Wednesday, April 5th at about 1:30 in the afternoon.  Central Dispatch said was told a vehicle was parked at a vacant residence.  The caller suspected people were possible “squatters”.

The officer responded and located a vehicle with two subjects. The subjects were identified as Amy Jo Fischer, age 48, and Steven S. Overmyer 53, both of Elkhart.

During the investigation, a substance believed to be methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia was recovered.

Amy Jo Fischer and Steven S. Overmyer were arrested, transported to the Marshall County Jail, and booked for Possession of Meth, Possession of Paraphernalia Fischer was also charged with Possession of a syringe. Both subjects were held on $1,500 cash bonds.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
