On Thursday, January 26, (2023) at approximately 3:30 p.m. Marshall County Sheriff`s Department Deputies responded to the area of U.S. 31 and U.S. 6 for a male subject walking southbound in the middle of the northbound lanes of U.S. 31 near U.S. 6.

Central Dispatch received multiple reports of the male subject running out in front of moving vehicles.

Arriving in the area, Deputy Blake Bennett located the male subject who was identified as 31-year-old Thomas Witt of Crawfordsville, IN.

Witt was found to be under the influence of drugs.  He also had an active felony warrant for his arrest through Montgomery County, Indiana.

Thomas Witt was taken into custody and transported to the Marshall County Jail and booked in for Public Intoxication by Drugs with a $250 cash bond.  He is also being held with NO BOND for Montgomery County.

Readers are reminded that charging information supported by an affidavit of probable cause is merely an allegation that a crime has been committed and that there is only probable cause to believe a crime has been committed. They are presumed innocent throughout the proceedings and are entitled to be represented by counsel and entitled to a trial by jury at which the State is obligated to provide proof beyond a reasonable doubt before a judgment of guilt may be made.
