-Dorothy L. Starr, 79, a lifetime resident of Plymouth, peacefully passed away on Thursday, January 19, 2023 in her home. Born on August 13, 1943, she was the daughter of Leonard and Catherine  (Biggins) Cox.
She attended Plymouth High School, graduating with the class of 1961. On June 30, 1962 she married Larry at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, and they just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Dorothy attended Ancilla College before transferring to Indiana University in South Bend and where she would earn her Bachelor’s Degree in education in 1989.  Dorothy became a real estate agent in 1977, and eventually became a broker and the proud owner of Starr Realty.
Dorothy showed a deep and genuine concern for others, and she enjoyed spending time with senior citizens. She fully enjoyed family gatherings and Christmas was her favorite holiday. Dorothy insisted on cooking from scratch and provided her family with delicious country cooking. She was an accomplished gardener who meticulously cared for her flowers. A talented hand quilter, she made amazing gifts that are treasured by her family.
Dorothy enjoyed fishing, morel mushroom hunting, collecting depression glassware, attending auctions and shopping for bargains. She was a lover of all animals, but was particularly proud of her rescued dogs. Most importantly she adored her family, especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband Larry of Plymouth; son Timothy (Connie) Starr; daughter Krista (Toby) Darkins of Loveland, OH; brother Harold (Sherry) Cox of Plymouth; sisters: Marilyn Justice of Tuscon, AZ; Marie (Dennis) Cannan of Leesburg, FL; sisters-in-law Janice (Don) Sischo of Monterey, IN; Wanda (Dave-deceased) Barlag of Brunswick, ME, brother-in-law Glenn (Linda) Starr of Plymouth, IN, grandchildren: T.J., Jessica, Lindsay, Nathan, Keenan as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023 from 11-1 pm at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth. Funeral services will immediately follow with Pastor Chuck Krieg officiating. Burial will take place in the New Oak Hill Cemetery, Plymouth.
