ARGOS- Carolyn D. Dimmitt, 82, passed peacefully from congestive heart failure with her family by her side on Saturday November 26, 2022, at We Belong Senior Home in Plymouth.
Lifetime Marshall County resident, Carolyn was born in Plymouth, Indiana on September 30, 1940, to Glenn Eugene and Helen Elizabeth (Pippenger) Long. She graduated from Tyner High School with the class of 1959.
That same year she married Donald Dimmitt on November 15, 1959, at Blissville Church as 2:30 in the afternoon. They were married nearly 50 years when Don passed away in September 2009. She partnered with him as owners of Dimmitt’s Auto Wrecking in Argos until her retirement in 1993.
She was the oldest grandchild and worked hard on the farms and enjoyed working alongside her aunts and uncles, but not so much the chores. Carolyn enjoyed monthly luncheons with her classmates and going on Plymouth’s American Dream Tours. Most of all, spending time with family was her highest priority. She was proud of her family legacy and loved having family around her, to the fullest.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter Barbara (Lonnie) Harner of Plymouth and her son Steve (Gail) Dimmitt of Argos; brother Norman (Susan) Long of Plymouth; grandchildren: John Dimmitt, Stacey (Joel) Thomas, Luke Dimmitt, Grant Dimmitt and Jordin Cook, Darci (Anthony) Kuhns, Ali (Michael) Lambert, Dalton Dimmitt, Jordan Harner and Josh Williams, Micah Harner and Marissa Moore; 5 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Don, her parents, and her sister, Janet Lemert.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 11-1 pm at the Johnson-Danielson Funeral Home, 1100 N. Michigan Street, Plymouth. Funeral services will immediately follow with Rev. Ron Humphrey officiating.
Burial will take place in Tyner Cemetery, Tyner.
