On Tuesday morning, November 22, just before 11 a.m., Patrolman Jared Siple of the Bremen Police Department attempted to make a traffic stop on a passenger vehicle for a traffic violation in the 1100 block of West Plymouth Street in Bremen.

The suspected vehicle fled the area. Patrolman Siple pursued the suspected vehicle as it fled north from Bremen. During the pursuit, the suspect threw several items from the vehicle.

Patrolman Siple was assisted during the pursuit by Assistant Chief Trent Stouder of the Bremen Police Department.

The pursuit led to the 66,000 block of Primrose Road in St. Joseph County. The suspect drove the vehicle into a field where it eventually became disabled.

Patrolman Troy Ulch of the Bremen Police Department arrived with his K9 partner Taro. K9 Taro tracked the suspect to a nearby creek where he was taken into custody without incident.

The suspect was identified as Timothy Applegate of New Carlisle, Indiana. Applegate was transported to the Marshall County Jail and charged with Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle as well as outstanding felony warrants through LaPorte County.

The Bremen Police Department was assisted by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, LaPaz Police Department, Lakeville Police Department, Walkerton Police Department, North Liberty Police Department, St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police, and Newcomers Towing.
