Older Adult Services “Senior of the Year” Award Winner
Ruby Whiteman was announced as this year’s recipient of the “Senior of the Year” during the Marshall County Senior Expo held on Thursday, October 20th.
This is the second year that TCU Insurance has sponsored the Senior of the Year Award.
Connie J. Deery nominated Ruby Whiteman and said in her nomination:
“Ruby has been a volunteer for the Saint Joseph Health system for over 10 years. She has volunteered every Tuesday for the past 10 years. She averages 2.5 days a week volunteering at the Saint Joseph Health Center or at the hospital. She has volunteered at the Moose Lodge for longer than 10 years. She volunteers at the annual Senior Expo. She volunteered at the Covid vaccine center at the hospital for the times that it was open. She is a person who helps no matter what whenever she is asked. She always has a smile, and a great attitude to help everywhere she is needed. Ruby comes from a large family where everyone helped all the time each other. Her mother always found work for the family…when there was nothing else to do, their mother had them sweep their dirt driveway. Ruby is a gem of a volunteer!”
