Bikes for Kids presented an overview of their organization at the last meeting of the Plymouth Lions Club.  Chip Dean from Bikes for Kids introduced Dave Abair who explained how Bikes for Kids helps underserved children ride into a happier and healthier childhood and they have been doing so since 2020.

Bikes for Kids provides free bikes to those most in need. Throughout the year they collect and refurbish bikes with the help of volunteers.  These bikes as well as new ones are distributed at their Annual Spring Bike Giveaway on Easter weekend and other organized events during the year.

Bikes for Kids welcomes your help in any way you can.  You could purchase a bike or make a monetary donation.  They welcome donations of gently used bikes, or you could help Bikes for Kids make a difference by volunteering your time.  For more information, you may contact Bikes for Kids at bikes for kids.net/info or call 574-221-5688 for additional websites.

The Plymouth Lions Club also approved a request from a local elementary school for a pair of glasses for a child that could not see well, and whose family needed financial assistance.  This is just one of the many projects the Lions support.

A special thanks go out to our community for their recent support of the Plymouth Lions Club While Cane Fundraiser.  The programs supported by White Cane Days are FREE eye screening for preschool and kindergarten students, Scholarships for high school seniors, Leader Dogs for the seeing impaired, Eyeglasses and exams for needy students, and Help with Cancer research.

In the words of our International President, Brian Sheehan, “Together We Are Team Lions!  One person may look at all that needs to be done in the world and feel overwhelmed.  But when you are a Lion, you are never just one person.  You have a whole team of Lions and a world of support behind you.  We are one team-Team Lions.”

Two new members of the Plymouth Lions Club will be inducted at the November meeting by Past District Governor Paul Russell.  If you or anyone you know would like to join the Plymouth Lions Club and help others have a better life, please contact any Lions club member.  As Lions, We Serve.
