Continuing the mission of concern for the community, Operation Round Up awards local non-profits with grants to support the work they do in the community. Last week Marshall County REMC Operation Round Up board awarded four grants, totaling $6,500 to the following organizations.
Brotherhood of Professional Police Officers and Emergency Services received funding to help provide a gift card during the holiday season to senior citizens with limited or fixed incomes who often do not have sufficient funds to buy medicine or food.
Cardinal Services received funding to place a safety fence in the backyard of its group home, which is the primary residence of five adults with intellectual and or developmental disabilities. Cardinal Services’ purpose is to lead the way to 100% equity, inclusion, and access for people with disabilities, families, and communities.
The Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana received funding to assist with membership and program fees, Girl Scout insignia and badges, program supplies, ect. Marshall County Girl Scouts serves 105 girls in grades k-12.
The IOOF Tyner Lodge 821 received funding to replace a portion of its roof and rebuild an exit door, making it handicap accessible. The IOOF Tyner Lodge 821 provides benevolence and charity throughout the local area.
The Operation Round Up program allows Marshall County REMC members to reach out to worthy causes in their community and work together to help others. Thank you to those members who round up their electric bills to the next highest dollar each month and to the Marshall County Community Foundation for making these donations possible. You have helped donate over $185,000 to organizations in the community!
The next round of grants will be awarded in January. Charitable organizations within the Marshall County REMC service territory are eligible to apply. The organization does not have to be a member of Marshall County REMC. Applications can be picked up at the REMC office or downloaded at www.marshallremc.com
