Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hassel is offering citizens a Firearms Safety Course in September.

On July 1st, there were several changes to Indiana Law that went into effect for the state.  Sheriff Hassel said, “One of the major areas of change was related to firearms and laws surrounding the carrying of firearms.  The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department strongly supports the citizens of this community and their Rights outlined in the Constitution of the United States.”  The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department is taking a step further from supporting to offering education to the community.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department will be again hosting a firearms safety course this year on September 17th, at 9:00 a.m.  The course will begin with classroom training related to safety concepts, legal issues, handling, storage, carrying, and fundamentals of shooting.  The class will then break for lunch and meet at a local firearms range to practice with certified instructors.

As in years past, this course is free of any cost. For questions and to sign up, please contact the Records Division of the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department at 574-936-3187.  Further instructions will be sent out to those who signed up prior to the course.
