Deputy Jeffery Haygood with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department investigated a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 31 at the railroad tracks south of 13th Road Tuesday evening, July 19th at about 9.    

The initial call for the accident was two vehicles with unknown injuries.

The accident involved a Chevy van and a semi-tractor trailer hauling an empty fuel tanker in the southbound lanes of U.S. 31. It was determined that the semi hauling the tanker was stopped at the railroad tracks and the Chevy van was driven by 60-year-old Scott Krull of Culver failed to change his lane of travel and drove into the rear of the tanker.

Samaritan Medical Helicopter transported Mr. Krull from the scene.  His condition was not noted in the police report.  The driver of the semi, 49-year-old Bart Bomback of Indianapolis was not injured in the crash.

The southbound lanes of U.S. 31 were closed so EMS could safely evaluate the situation and the crash reconstruction was performed.     

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by Samaritan, Plymouth Fire and EMS, Argos Police, and the Indiana State Police.
