In a press release Wednesday morning Jeff Sharp announced his candidacy on the Democrat ballot for County Sheriff. His press release follows and state:

It is with great pride and enthusiasm that I announce my candidacy for the Office of Sheriff of Marshall County.

From my beginnings as a Florida State Trooper, to my 20 years as Deputy Sheriff in Marshall County, law enforcement and public safety have been the foundation of my career.

I’ve had the privilege of serving under truly professional law enforcement leadership in the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, but not today.

I’m running to restore professionalism, service and duty to the Sheriff’s office.

I will address the public safety issues we face in our schools, and improve the response when you call 9-1-1.  As Sheriff, my top priority will be public safety: the safety of our children and our schools, safety for our seniors needing emergency medical help, improved dispatch safety for our first responders, and stronger support for my fellow law enforcement brothers and sisters.

Another top priority is to bring real solutions to the serious problems we face in inmate management that led to the recent flood of lawsuits against the county.

I will build a professional administrative team, raise the professional standards of the office, restore law enforcement pride, and do all of that while working collaboratively with emergency planners in our county and state.  In short, I will ensure your Marshall County Sheriff’s office is prepared to serve you when you need us the most.

Real challenges face law enforcement today, and only real leaders can solve those problems.

I look forward to this campaign where we can discuss real solutions to real problems, and with your vote in November I’ll restore professionalism, service and duty to your Sheriff’s Office.
