The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety approved three requests during their meeting Monday, June 27th.

The St. Michael Fall Festival Committee was granted permission to close the alley between Madison and Monroe Street on Friday, October 7th, and Saturday, October 8th.

This is the alley between St. Michael Catholic School and the playground that fronts Michigan Street.

The Fall Festival will hold an adult party on Friday evening with the alley being closed from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Saturday a family fun fair from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The next two requests were for police escorts.

Oliver Ford Lincoln is hosting a car show benefit for David’s Courage this Friday from noon till 6.  After the car show, there will be a cruise and they are requesting police assistance.

The second police escort was from Friends in Service Riding Together. They are hosting a fundraising motorcycle ride for Blessings in a Backpack on July 31st.  The ride will leave from the Moose Lodge on West Jefferson Street and travel east towards Bourbon.  They would like assistance getting the 100 or so motorcycle riders through town without issues at stoplights.

Both requests were approved by the Board of Public Works and Safety with the understanding that the Plymouth Police Department does not have a dedicated person to handle this type of request and if officers are available, they will assist but emergency and other calls will be the priority.
